MISSION STATEMENT
The CETL will provide excellent simulated learning environments where health care students can learn together in a safe but authentic environment, which mirrors the clinical and communication challenges that students meet in practice. Innovative learning materials and methods will be designed to support clinical and communication skills teaching, self directed learning (SDL) and interprofessional teaching, learning and assessment.
The CETL will also:
- extend and develop excellent simulated learning environments where professional skills can be learned in an authentic low-risk context .
- radically extend access to learning environments for our students and NHS Partners, by developing and evaluating a “Skills Bus” (mobile skills learning environment), and by extending access to the main centre.
- research the pedagogy of interprofessional clinical skills learning & teaching and disseminate good practice to the healthcare community.
- develop and adapt diagnostic tools to enable early identification of students in need of targeted academic support.
- engage in a vigorous programme of evaluated staff and educational development, unifying an interprofessional faculty of experts drawn widely from the Strategic Alliance of City University and QMUL and our NHS Partners.
